Video: The Palomino Pause XC22.4 is an Overlanding Trailer with a Dash of Luxury
On the outside, Palomino Pause travel trailers look like durable, off-road-focused models built specifically with the overlanding crowd in mind. After all, these rigs do come with burly air suspension systems, solar charging packages, and 25″ of ground clearance. But as it turns out, those rugged features hide a little secret. Inside, these towables offer a comfortable—almost luxurious—environment filled with an array of surprising features and amenities.
The video clip above takes us on a walk-through of the latest edition to the Palomino Pause lineup—the XC22.4 floor plan. Just how new is this model? It is so new that it doesn’t even appear on the brand’s website just yet. But you can rest assured that it is coming soon, and that it will be worth the wait. Especially if you’re in the market for an overlanding trailer that deftly mixes off-road performance with an unexpectedly well-appointed interior.

Some of the standout features that are sure to appeal to the off-grid camping crowd are a 4,000W generator, an 1,800W solar panel array, and a 1080Ah lithium house battery bank. The rig further cements its overlanding credentials by including two full-size spare tires, an off-road light bar, integrated brush guards, and a fully enclosed, puncture-proof underbelly. Of course, the Pause is rated for four-season camping and comes with heated holding tanks. It also has a MORryde suspension that offers up to 12″ of wheel travel, allowing it to take on the toughest terrain imaginable.
Inside, the XC22.4 floor plan includes the option for twin beds or a king-size mattress in the spacious bedroom area located at the front of the trailer. In the back, it features a comfortable-looking dinette with bench seating and a large table situated next to sliding glass doors that lead out onto the outdoor deck. A midship split-bathroom comes with a toilet, sink, and an enormous shower, and cleverly uses two doors to create a private environment. A two-burner stove, residential microwave, and 12V refrigerator are just a few of the features found in the kitchen.

One of the more interesting and unique things about the Palomino Pause travel trailers is that no wood is used in their construction. That includes the cabinets and closets, with those interior pieces constructed out of lightweight aluminum. This provides enhanced durability when wandering far afield where the roads are rough or potentially nonexistent.

The Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini is a Rooftop Tent for Your Electric Truck
Here at RV.com, we love it when two of our favorite brands come together to create new camping gear. So naturally, we were delighted when we heard electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian was joining forces with rooftop tent maker iKamper to create a new model. The result of that collaboration is called the Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini, which is an iteration of one of the best rooftop tents on the market specifically made for the R1T electric pickup truck and the R1S SUV.

The iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Mini
The Rivian x iKamper collab starts with the Skycamp 3.0 Mini rooftop tent. Not only is this model compact and lightweight, when not in use, it offers a low, aerodynamic profile, too. This combination of characteristics makes it ideal for an electric vehicle, as the weight and size have less of an impact on range.
But the Skycamp 3.0 Mini also happens to be an outstanding rooftop tent, too. The camp shelter offers room for two people, is durable enough to stand up to the elements, and can be deployed in under a minute. It is also designed for four-season use, with a cozy, quilted interior, and a nine-zone mattress designed for camping in a wide variety of weather conditions. The smaller Mini is also great on short-bed pick-up trucks, like the R1T, offering a safe and roomy place to camp without impeding bed storage space.

Rivian-Specific Features
Of course, the Skycamp 3.0 Mini fits on a wide variety of vehicles, both electric and gas-powered. But as part of the Rivian x iKamper partnership, the two brands added a few additional features to help this specific model stand out. For instance, the special edition version of the rooftop tent comes in exclusive colors and includes Rivian branding. It also comes with mounting brackets that integrate with Rivian’s Adventure Key Set for added security.
The tent is made from a breathable blackout polycotton canvas material and includes a removable rainfly, giving it added versatility in a variety of climates. It also comes with a version-specific foam mattress that is reportedly cushier and more comfortable than the one included with the standard Skycamp 3.0 Mini. The Rivian version of the tent also has a lighter, more aerodynamic shell to further reduce drag and keep range as high as possible.

Rossmönster Reveals Adventurous and Innovative Skye Camper Van
Rossmönster, a brand best known for its burly adventure trucks, is bringing its years of design and manufacturing expertise to the Class B market. Yesterday, the company took the wraps off what it calls “the most capable 170” Sprinter van on the market, which comes our way in the form of the Skye, a rugged off-road model that deftly combines both performance and comfort.

So, how exactly does the Skye camper van stand out in the increasingly crowded Class B space? Well, for starters, it’s made by Rossmönster, which means it offers a build quality that matches or exceeds anything else currently available. It’s also designed from the ground up for off-grid, off-road camping, with the capability to take you just about anywhere you want to go in style and comfort. That starts with using the Sprinter chassis, which provides a reliable and proven base to build upon.
After that, Rossmönster went to work doing its thing, giving the Skye a custom-built interior unlike anything currently on the market. Highlights include a plush queen-size bed that conveniently folds into a storage compartment, freeing up extra space when not in use. The rig also comes with a hydronic heated floor, an onboard bathroom with a shower and cassette toilet, and seating for four people. The roomy kitchen especially stands out, with a two-burner induction cooktop, a microwave that doubles as an air fryer, and a 150L refrigerator/freezer. But most impressive of all is the 12′ countertop, which is perfect for meal prep or as a workspace while on the road.

As noted, the Skye camper van is made for of-grid adventures, which are made easier thanks to a 400W solar panel, a 1,000Ah LiFePo4 house battery, and a 3,000W inverter. A high-amp alternator charger powers up the batteries while driving, and a shore power connection provides electricity when staying at a traditional campsite. The exterior also comes equipped with a KC light bar, a Lippert powered awning, and an array of accessories from Owl Vans, including running boards, a rear ladder/tire carrier. Optional upgrades include a rugged bumper, an Owl cargo carrier, and a pop-top tent that brings the sleeping capacity to four.
One of the most intriguing aspects of this van is that it is the first repeat-production model in Rossmönster’s history. Normally, the company works with each individual client, building a custom adventure truck to meet their specific needs. But with the Skye, the brand delivers its trademark precision craftsmanship and design sensibilities in a vehicle with greater availability, making it accessible to a larger audience.
