  • RollAway Electric RV Rentals are Five-Star Hotels on Wheels

There are a plenty of places where you can rent an RV on the internet, but none are quite like RollAway. The recently-launched service promises a five-star luxury experience more akin to staying at a posh resort rather than booking a stay in a motorhome for a few days. That starts with a custom-built all-electric coach that allows you to camp and travel in comfort and style.

    A Luxurious Electric RV

RollAway’s electric RVs come courtesy of BrightDrop, a sub-brand of General Motors that focuses on making an EV chassis for use in cargo vans. However, as with the Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit, those vans can also be converted into recreational vehicles, turning their interiors into custom living spaces with a suite of impressive features and amenities.

For its e-RVs, RollAway put a lot of effort into turning the interior into a flexible and comfortable living space. The floor plan includes a dining area that turns into an open living room when the table is removed, before later converting into an expansive bedroom with a plush mattress. The van feels less like a camper and more like a luxury hotel suite with a spa-inspired bathroom and shower, both of which are functional and gorgeous. Meanwhile, the modern kitchen includes an induction stove, plenty of counter space, and an onboard refrigerator, making meal prep fun and easy. The rear cargo door even rolls up to create an indoor/outdoor environment with plenty of fresh air and stunning views.

As for the vehicle itself, RollAway says it has a 270+ mile battery pack, which should keep range anxiety to a minimum. It supports fast-charging, so downtime is kept to a minimum. Of course, extended stays at a charging station are a lot easier when you can take a nap, play a game around the table, or whip up some lunch while lounging around the camper. Everything is designed to make the experience as fun and pleasurable as possible, keeping hassles to a minimum and ensuring customers get a lot of value for their money.

    Five-Star Services and Features

For RollAway, the swanky camper van is only part of the appeal. The service hopes to extend its luxury hotel metaphor further by adding additional services and features to give customers an even more appealing experience. For instance, it includes several nice add-ons that provide additional convenience for campers. Those include a Yeti cooler and drinkware, as well as high-quality toiletries that feel more at home in a luxury spa than in an RV. You can even add Starlink satellite internet service to stay connected while on the go.

But that’s not all. RollAway also provides access to a live virtual concierge to help with trip planning, making reservations at restaurants and events, obtaining tickets to shows and sporting events, and more. The brand has even partnered with local restaurants for grab-and-go meal packages and getting a taste of local cuisine. You can even elect to have housekeeping service that provides fresh towels and linens throughout the length of your rental.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, RollAway also offers curated travel itineraries. All you have to do is tell them where you want to go and what you like to see and do, and the company’s travel experts will create a plan for the length of your trip. A tablet that provides all of the information—including driving routes and places to stop—is included in the package..

    Now Taking Reservations

RollAway’s service and business plan are an ambitious one, to say the least. That’s why it should come as no surprise that it is only available in the San Francisco Bay Area for now, but the service will expand to other areas throughout 2025. The company started taking reservations last fall and is already booked solid. The plan is to bring more vans online in the near future, expanding capacity to help meet demand.

Anyone interested in booking a stay in a RollAway electric van can visit the company’s website. Pricing starts at $400/night, with some add-ons—like Starlink internet—adding additional fees. The site also provides more information on all of the available services and what to expect when renting the vehicle. Check it out at gorollaway.com.

  • RV News: Weather Limits Attendance at Florida SuperShow, Forest River Expands Luxury Van Efforts, and More

Another week has come and gone, which means it’s time for our Friday round-up of the latest happenings from the RV industry. Here are the most important things that went down over the past seven days:

    • Forest River Acquires LA West Coaches to Expand Luxury Van Line: Remember OGV Luxury Coach? If not, don’t feel too bad. The Forest River-owned upscale brand may have fallen off your radar since its launch back in 2023. At the time, the idea was to bolster Forest River’s presence in the luxury space by building high-end bespoke camper vans. Well, it seems those efforts may get another shot in the arm after it was announced this week that the company is purchasing LA West Coaches, which operates in a similar space. No word yet on how the new acquisition will be folded into the mother ship, but it seems likely that the two Class B manufacturers will work in synchronicity with one another.
    • Weather Impacts Attendance at Florida RV SuperShow: It’s been a couple of weeks since the Florida RV SuperShow came, and while there was an upbeat and optimistic toneat the event, attendance failed to match last year’s numbers. According to RV News, the 2025 edition saw 68,612 people pass through the gates, which is down from roughly 75,000 attendees in 2024. The primary reason was poor weather over the course of several days, with cool temperatures and heavy rain putting a damper on the festivities. Still, it was a very successful event with dozens of manufacturers on hand showing off their latest and greatest vehicles.

    • 81.1 Million Americans Went Camping in 2024, Including 5.8 Million First-Timers: Online campsite discovery platform The Dyrt has released its 2025 Camping Report, and as always it is filled with lots of insightful information. Look for a steady stream of quotes, stats, and projections to come from this document in the days and weeks ahead. But for now, the most important takeaway is that more Americans than ever are going camping with 81.1 million saying they did so last year. What’s more, 5.8 million of them were first-timers. The data comes from polling Dyrt members, the general public, and campground managers, providing a true cross-section of people.
    • Hipcamp Shares Industry Predictions for 2025: Hipcamp—a website for booking campsites online—has shared five bold predictions for the camping industry in 2025. Those predictions include demand for family glamping outings doubling in the year ahead and more people using their smartphone apps to make on-the-go bookings. The site also says more people will buy weather insurance to provide protection for their trips, agritourism will grow in popularity, and we’ll see a 60% increase in”astrotourism,” which involves traveling to see a solar eclipse, a comet, the aurora borealis, or some other celestial event. Read more here.
    DartSolar

    • Solar Panel Manufacturer Building 2,000W Expandable Roof-Rack Model: If you’re looking to maximize the amount of solar power you can add to your rig, you may want to pay attention to what a company called DartSolar is up to. The tech start-up is developing an expandable panel designed to mount on the roof of an EV to provide electricity while traveling off-grid. According to our friends at RV Pro, the brand released a 1,000W model last year and is now working on doubling that capacity. That’s enough to add as much as 40 miles of range to an electric vehicle each and every day. When driving, the panel reduces itself in size to a 360W model, but continues to provide modest gains. While 2,000W is impressive, apparently DartSolar is already making a 3,000W version. Now, if only they would consider making something for the RV market.
    • RV Women’s Alliance Launches New Nonprofit Foundation: This week, the RV Women’s Alliance (RVWA) announced it is launching a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the goal of further elevating, educating, and promoting women in the RV industry. The new foundation will include new educational programs and workshops, scholarship opportunities, a mentor program, and leadership development initiatives. Donations to the new RV Women’s Alliance Charitable Foundation are tax-deductible, of course, and allow donors to help further the careers and input of women throughout the industry.

And that’s a wrap for this week. Thanks for dropping by and be sure to visit next Friday for another rundown of the latest RV and camping news.

  • RV News: Roadtrek’s Play Line Expands, New RV Accessories, and More

After a flurry of news from the big Florida RV SuperShow last week, things have calmed down a bit this week. Still, there are plenty of things to catch up on, so let’s dive in.

    Roadtrek Play+

    • Roadtrek Expands ‘Play Series’ Line of Class B Models: Here’s an announcement of new RV models that slipped under our radar last week. Camper van specialists Roadtrek were also on hand in Tampa and announced some new additions to its Class B Play Series. Those additions include the Play+ and the Play+Slumber, both of which bring some exciting enhancements. For instance, the Play+ model comes with a 300Ah lithium house battery, an electronic sofa bed, an updated interior décor, and more. Meanwhile, the Play+Slumber is built to comfortably sleep up to five people, making it an excellent option for families. Find out more here.
    • KOA Announces Icon Awards for Excellence: Last week, Kampgrounds of America announced the new KOA Icon Awards, designed to shine a spotlight on the campgrounds that exhibit exceptional operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and a commitment to the KOA brand. The awards are given to the top ten percent of the company’s campgrounds in North America, which will be highlighted with special logos on KOA.com. Winners were announced at the brand’s recent annual convention held in San Antonio, TX.

    • RV Trader Lists Best Dogs for RVing: Dogs and camping are a natural fit, allowing us to enjoy time outdoors with our four-legged friends. But have you ever wondered if some dog breeds are a better fit for the RV lifestyle or even which type of dog works best for your approach to RVing? This week, the RV Trader—an online platform for buying and selling recreational vehicles—shared a blog post that looks to answer those questions. The post, which you can read here, matches RV personality types (casual campers, adventure seekers, etc.) with the dog breeds that make the best companions for them. The article also shares which dogs are best overall for RVing. Why won’t spoil who comes out on top, but let’s just say there aren’t a lot of surprises.
    • Vanlife Move Seeking RVs and Extras: Have a particularly good looking RV or face? Paramount Pictures is currently shooting a film in Washington state and is looking for vehicles—and extras—for an upcoming shoot. Scenes for the movie will be shot in Enumclaw, WA (Feb. 12-14) and Grand Coulee, WA (Mar. 27-30). Per RV Pro, the producers are looking for “sprinter vans, camper vans, RVs, teardrops, pop ups” and so on. But if you don’t have a rig, you can also send them your headshot for a chance to appear in the film. Contact the production team at vanlifemoviewashington@gmail.com.
    • Harbinger Raises $100 Million in Funding: Harbinger Motors, which develops and manufactures electric truck chassis, has raised $100 million in its latest round of funding. Why is this news on an RV website? Because the company has partnered with Thor Industries to develop hybrid and electric RVs. In fact, Thor is one of the primary investors in Harbinger with the hopes of creating low- or zero-emission vehicles that are easier on the environment. The latest influx of funds will help it ramp up production and continue further research and development. Our friends at RV News have more insights here.
    Soaring Eagle Campers

    • Soaring Eagle Campers Joins RVIA: Lightweight aluminum truck camper manufacturer Soaring Eagle has joined the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). The brand received approval for membership last month and officially became a part of the community on January 1, 2025. Membership provides access to more RV shows and should help the start-up gain wider exposure. It also means Soaring Eagle campers are built to RVIA’s exacting standards.
    • Transferflow Offers New 40-Gallon Refueling Tank System for Truck Bed: Looking to upgrade the range and fuel capacity of your tow vehicle or work truck? This week, Transferflow announced a new addition to its extensive catalog of refueling products. In this case, the latest offering is a 40-gallon tank designed to fit in the bed of a truck and under a toolbox. The unit is compatible with gas, diesel, and kerosene, and comes with everything you need to install, including a 12V pump, 12′ hose, a nozzle, fuel cap, and more. For more details, click here.
    RVi GrabPads

    • RVi Launches Line of Universal Permanent Jack Pads: RVi is best known for its line of flat towing products, including portable braking systems, but this week it expanded its catalog with a new product. The company announced a line of universal permanent jack pads called GrabPads, which come in 8″-9″ and 10″-12″ sizes. They’re also sold in two-, four-, and six-packs to meet a wide array of RV needs. The pads install in under 30 seconds and add additional stability and support. Check them out here.
    • Love’s Continues to Expand RV Hook-Ups: Love’s convenience stores are usually some of the best places to stop for gas, drinks, and snacks on any road trip. But now, the company is expanding its appeal to RVers by adding even more hookups to various locations. According to RV Travel, Love’s will add 83 RV hookups to 17 of its locations, which will bring the total number of stores that cater to RVers to over a hundred. Reportedly, those outlets will also expand the fresh foods they have on offer, giving us even more reasons to stop—and stay—in the months ahead.

That’s a wrap for this week’s RV news round-up. See you next Friday for another recap of everything happening in the industry.

  • The Road Trips Your Dog is Going to Love

When you close your eyes and imagine yourself on the open road, who is in the passenger seat? Who is your ideal companion? Is it someone who’s just along for the ride, loves the journey as much as the destination, and doesn’t dare criticize your carefully curated playlist even after the third time through? Are you envisioning your dog, tongue and fur to the wind? Even if they’re not your only road trip companion, they’re likely your best, so it’s important to factor in their few needs (and demands) when planning your next trip. Our friends at Ollie have a few recommendations for bringing your pup along for the ride, and their freshly cooked meals make for the perfect fuel for any adventure.

So, what makes a road trip or destination dog-friendly?  The simple answer is preparation — packing wisely and researching ahead of time to ensure a backcountry site is safe or that viral motel can accommodate your pup. There’s plenty of room in the plan for spontaneity without risking your dog’s comfort and safety. Choosing destinations and waypoints that match your experience and comfort levels is also a must. Are you willing to carry out waste or carry in potable water? Are you prepared to hoof it a few miles to a medical aide site? If it’s your first time traveling with your pup, or you have yet to earn your orienteering badge, consider easing in with one of these dog-approved road trips.

    East Coast

    Green Mountains to Block Island

Photo Credit: Rfael Rodrigues via Unsplash

New England is ripe for a road trip with its countless dog-friendly beaches and green mountain trails. The sights and smells of the far northeast are unmistakable and marked by a mix of nostalgia and novelty that comes with having four distinct seasons.

    Stop 1: St. Johnsbury, Vermont

If there’s anything the region loves as much as its lighthouses and breweries, it’s dogs. Summit Vermont’s aptly named Dog Mountain, you’ll see how one man’s profound love for his pups has transformed into a mountaintop oasis for dog lovers and art enthusiasts alike. The living shrine, Dog Chapel, is a tribute to pups passed and an active space for various community events. Leashes are optional atop Dog Mountain and many of its neighboring trails.

Stop 2: White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire

Heading south to New Hampshire, you and your pup will be treated to a low-key, high-elevation adventure — at least the highest you’ll find in the East. We like to think the state’s motto, “live free or die,” was penned by an off-leash dog who understood the thrill of tackling multiple presidential peaks in a day or scaling Mount Washington’s 6,288 feet by foot, car, or railway. Even if the phrase is more an artifact of the region’s role in the Revolutionary War than a dogism,  there is an undeniable feeling of freedom and fortitude in the White Mountains that might just bring out your inner dog.

Stop 3: Block Island, Rhode Island

Heading down to sea level, you’ll find the quintessential views of New England seen on postcards and calendars. You might want to temporarily ditch your vehicle in the name of what has been described as a “dog’s dream.” Rhode Island’s Block Island is a coastal haven with a myriad of public beaches open to dogs and their humans year-round. If you’re feeling social after long hours behind the wheel, Ballard’s Beach is a lively place to stretch your legs, grab a drink, and mingle with other beachgoers. Vaill Beach might be more your speed if you and your pup seek solitude. The more secluded location means fewer amenities (and people!), but it’s never short on stunning sunset views, beachcombing, and rugged adventure.

    West Coast

    Lake Tahoe to Big Sur

    Ollie dog food

Photo Credit: Vladimir Kudinov via Unsplash

To say the trip from Tahoe to Big Sur is iconic suggests every photograph, work of art, or piece of literature has done it justice. Trust us when we say the feeling of driving down the Pacific Coast Highway can not be captured by film or pen, though you can’t blame anyone for trying.

Stop 1: Lake Tahoe, California and Nevada

While South Lake Tahoe is known for being more bustling and buzzing than its northern counterpart, the amenities that come with tourism tend to benefit our canine companions. Bijou Community Park sits lakeside, offering a wide-open space for you and your dog to roam. It is also a dedicated, fenced-in dog park for pups prone to wandering. For a long, steady hike with rewarding views of the whole lake, the Mt. Tallac climb could be in the stars. Be sure to pack plenty of water, food, treats, and poop bags, and be prepared to enter the ominously named Desolation Wilderness, which requires registration at the trailhead. If you’re not up for an all-day adventure, Van Sickle Bi-State Park boasts some pretty epic views of the area without the trek. Plus, this conservation area traverses California and Nevada state lines if you want to check multiple destinations off your list.

Stop 2: Yosemite National Park, California

National Parks aren’t inherently dog-friendly. Even if they permit pets on park grounds, that doesn’t guarantee the experience will be ideal for four-legged hikers.  Yosemite National Park, however, sticks out in the pack with its four-day dog-friendly itinerary that includes pet-safe hotels, hikes, and more in the Yosemite Mariposa County area. Don’t expect just the greatest hits; this itinerary includes hidden gems like Olmsted Point and other pup-approved trails and viewing points.

    Stop 3: Fort Funston, California

If you’d rather hit the coast immediately after taking on Tahoe, Fort Funston offers a sandy retreat just outside San Francisco. Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the fort has trails for every level and plenty of beachfront spots for when you and your pup want to take a load off and soak up some sun. Dogs are welcome off and on leash in most park areas; just watch for horses clopping down the mixed-use Bay Area Ridge Trail.

    Stop 4: Carmel, California

Highway 1 runs along most of California’s coastline, though you’ll swear the state highway teleported you to a Mediterranean village when you enter Carmel-by-the-Sea in Monterey County. The town’s eclectic architecture is a testament to the area’s Spanish settlement, as it is nearly entirely walkable or bikeable roadways. Carmel Beach is just a stone’s throw away and offers a mile-long meander along the ocean, bordered by bush lupine, wild lilac, and other coastal plantlife bursting with color and life. Once you and your pup have gotten enough sand between your toes, the nearby Terry’s Lounge hosts a “Yappy Hour” beginning at 4:30 pm for dogs and cats of all sizes. Pop by for a cocktail and wash up before dinner at the bar’s pet wash area.

    Stop 5: Big Sur, California

Leaving Carmel, you’ll lose cell service, but if there’s one place to go off the grid, it’s Big Sur. When the Santa Lucia Mountains rise out of thin air to meet you and block your signal, you’ll have no choice but to get lost in the drama of the rugged landscape. We do recommend downloading a map ahead of time, so you don’t actually get lost. Just driving down the guardrail-less section of Highway 1 is an adventure all its own, but Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is the perfect place to reground yourself after the long, winding descent. The park has both day-use and overnight camping areas available. The campsites are relatively spread out, allowing you and your pup a little space and shade among the stately redwood trees. We recommend making Pfeiffer Beach your final destination if you’re feeling beached out. The purple sands and gnarled cliffs make this secluded spot unlike any other in this itinerary, and the famed Keyhole Rock is one of the most photographed natural landmarks in the area.

Let Ollie take the wheel when it comes to your dog’s nutrition. Their carefully crafted meals put your pup’s health and happiness first, using high-quality ingredients like premium proteins and superfoods to help dogs of all ages thrive.

  • RV News: Friday, January 10, 2025

Thanks to the holidays, there hasn’t been much news to share from the RV industry over the past couple of weeks. But now that the New Year is upon us, things are starting to ramp back up. In fact, there is quite a bit to share ahead of the Florida RV SuperShow next week. So, without further ado, let’s dive in.
    • Thor to Introduce New Class A Motorhomes in Tampa: The Florida RV SuperShow Thor is always a great place for RV manufacturers to show off new models, and this year Thor is getting in on the action. The company will have the new Windsport models on display with four new floorplans. Highlights include a king-size bed, a drop-down overhead bunk, Thor’s famous Dream Dinette, and more. Some models will come with a sofa bed and optional theater seating, while residential kitchen appliances will provide an upscale feel. Attendees can tour the 29L, 35G, 35J, and 35R floor plans at the show for a better idea of how they differ and what each offers.

    • KZ Durango Gold Gets ‘Black Pearl’ Body Paint: KZ is kicking off the new year by announcing a splashy new paint option for its outstanding Durango Gold fifth-wheel. Moving forward, buyers of that luxury towable will now have the option to add a “Black Pearl” full-body paint scheme to their rig. This will give the trailer a distinct look that stands out on the road and at the campsite. The new paint is backed by a two-year warranty and is available now. Those attending the Ultimate RV Show in Denver this weekend can see it firsthand, as will attendees at the Florida RV SuperShow next week.
    • Forest River has a Lot on Tap For Tampa: Ahead of the big RV show in Tampa next week, Forest River has released a media kit that shows off everything new that it will have on display. The online document gives us a glimpse of what to expect across a wide range of vehicles in the company’s line-up. Each entry also includes specific details for what’s “New for Tampa,” with insights into the latest from the brand. There is a lot to sort through, but you can check it out here.

    • Forest River’s NoBo Travel Trailers Embark on an Epic Road Trip:  The No Boundaries travel trailers from Forest River are known for their rugged build and off-road prowess. Now, those capabilities will be put to the test on an epic journey that will play out in front of a television audience. The towables are set to appear on Off-Road Travel TV—a show that airs on MAVTV—which will follow intrepid adventurers as they make their way along the Pacific Coast from Southern California to the Last Frontier in Alaska. The show will consist of 13 episodes and will showcase a NoBo 16.6 travel trailer towed behind a custom-built Ford Bronco. Over the course of the road trip, the team will visit multiple state and national parks in the US and Canada.
    • Jackery Launches RV-Specific Solar Panel at CES: The Consumer Electronics Show took place in Las Vegas this week, with hundreds of tech companies on hand to reveal their newest products. Among them was Jackery, which is best known for making portable and home power solutions. At the event, the company revealed an all-new solar panel designed specifically with RVs in mind. The new SolarSaga 100 Prime which promises to deliver up to 20% more power yield over similar offerings from the competition. • Airstream Partners with Klipsch and Announces New RV Package at CES: One of the more unlikely attendees at CES this year was Airstream. The iconic RV manufacturer was on hand to announce a new partnership with Klipsch, a brand that is equally iconic in the audio space. The two companies struck a deal that will put high-end speakers in the 2025 Classic travel trailer. But, Airstream also took advantage of the show to announce the new “Midnight Flamingo” package for its Flying Cloud 25FB, 27FB, and 33FB floorplans. The optional add-on gives those towables four ceiling-mounted premium Klipsch speakers and a Flexus Core 200 sound bar. It also offers a 3″ lift kit and a solar power package, complete with lithium house batteries.
    • Updated Pebble Flow All-Electric Travel Trailer Video: Earlier in the week, we shared news about the production-intent version of the all-electric Pebble Flow travel trailer, which also made its debut at CES. The new version differs slightly from the one we told you about last year, offering a refined design and some subtle but nice changes. This version is set to go into production in the next few weeks, with customers taking delivery in the spring. If you’re eager to get a look at this exciting new towable yourself, check out the video above.
    • RV Trader Reveals It’s Most Popular RVs of 2024: RV Trader—a Top online platform for buying and selling RVs—has revealed its most popular models for the year that has just passed. The outlet posted its top five most popular models to a blog post right before the holidays. The list contains some excellent models—like the Winnebago View—but the top spot is a bit of a strange one. Spoiler alert, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter claims number 1, but as we all know, that isn’t an RV. It is a popular RV platform, but not an RV per se. Strange choice, but interesting.
    Garmin Montana GPS

    • Garmin Drops New Handheld GPS Devices: While we’re on the topic of CES, in somewhat of a surprise move, Garmin announced a trio of new handheld GPS devices this week. Thanks to smartphone navigation integration, these types of gadgets seemed to have gone out of favor with many consumers in recent years, but the new  Montana 710, Montana 710i and Montana 760i have some compelling features that make them interesting. For starters, they’re sleek and lightweight, have bright screens, and come with rechargeable batteries that offer up to 24 hours of use. They also have built-in cameras, have access to high-resolution satellite imagery, and can send an SOS alert via satellite. They even have satellite texting capabilities like the company’s inReach Messenger. Prices start at $650.
    • Demco’s Hitch Works with the RamBox Truck:  Ram trucks have been a source of innovation in recent years, with the RamBox cargo management system especially standing out. Unfortunately, this clever feature—which provides more onboard storage for owners—results in a narrower bed, which means it isn’t compatiable with all fifth-wheel hitches. But fear not Ram truck owners, as the Demco Recon Series, which can be paired with an aftermarket rotating pin box, works well with RamBox models. Check them out here.
That’s a wrap on this week’s RV industry news. Join us next Friday, when there is sure to be even more to share. The post RV News: Friday, January 10, 2025 appeared first on RV.com.
